Does anyone have any info about Jim Shockey’s Gold™ black powder substitute?
Ive been using fffg Black Powder for years but Im getting tired of hoping a gun dealer around here has it in stock when I need it........
Ive looked at Pyrodex- It seems to work okay but is just as messy as black powder....
Thought about 777 but it seems to be very critical on pressures for me.....
Buckhorn 209 and Shockeys seem to be the cleanest burning out there but I dont know much about either so any help would be appreciated.......

I know Jim Shockey says it's the best thing since sliced bread, but I've had a different experience. I bought some for use in my T/C Omega (preformed charges). After the first shot, loading became extremely difficult - excessive fouling was the culprit. I've done side-by-side tests with Triple 7, and the APP stuff is most definitely worse when it comes to fouling. I'm using up what I have left, and then I'm done with it. The loose powder will be better than the pyrodex, but not as clean as 777. Let me check with the folks back home. I've got a bunch of stuff that a friend tried before giving up on T/C and going with a Savage smokeless ML-II. If I've got anything else worth trying, I'll send it your way. It's worth a shot from where you're coming, but still ain't perfect...

Ive shot it pretty extensively...its not a good powder, and its not cleaner than T7. What kind of gun are you shooting...inline or sidehammer?

PS-
Buckhorn209 isnt all smokeless powder...despite what they are telling everybody.
