Here is my water buffalo from February this year. 1800lbs. I killed it with my custom .450 Marlin. I used some of my handloads with the 420gr Crater Lite bullet. reflex264

Hey Bob. I am going to copy and paste a bunch of the info I have posted on other forums. This was afun hunt for a feller with very litte time to kill a water buff. We are eating the meat and it is quite good. reflex264 Boys I am back a day early. Got my buff then came down with the crud that is going around. Had a great time. I have tons of info to post and pics after I get rested up. What I can tell you is 1. I was told by the gent that guided me that it was the most impressive performance by any rifle and load that he has guided on these critters. 2. Jae Bok Youngs bullets are the stuff. 3. My speculation based on the performance in the ballistic buff was right on the money. The 420gr did exactly what the ballistic buff said it should do. 4. I won the award for largest gut pile of the weekend. 5. My buffalo was 1800lbs. 6. The owe you money look can apply to preserve raised water buff as well as cape buff. more later. The place I hunted certainly wasn't like chasing a sweeper buff in the NT of OZ but wasn't exactly a canned hunt either. From the time we first encountered the buffalo till I finally got a shot was about 4 hours. They are in a enclosure that I believe they said was 900 acres in total. I get to keep all the meat. I have to drive back up there later this week to get it. My problem is time. As of 6 months ago I am the VP of the company I have worked for for the last 24 years. I never even got to take a whole vacation last year. I took off Friday and Saturday to do this vs. being gone 12 or so days to go to Africa or OZ. Its still in the works but............we just purchased a monster of a new computer that is going to eat my day off for about 6 months. It was do this now or wait till next year. I am supposed to head to New Mexico on a elk hunt in January which will get my vacation then. So for the present time this was a great distraction for a very overworked feller. My boss even knew that stress was getting me down. I used it as a learning oppertunity and for that it was great. I am having a skull mount done. The hunt, processing and taxidermy altogether is right at 2700.00. That included 3 days lodging and meals. The lodge was nice and the staff were great. reflex264 Bone in rib eye. Bullets: bullet # 1 broke the leg bone and got the front of the lungs before lodging in the offside shoulder. bullet # 2 took out the heart and lungs and lodged under the offside skin, actualy in the skin. bullet # 3 is an unfired 420gr Crater
