We have been talking at Church about being bold when witnessing. I know there are times when I stand by and say nothing when i should be telling folks about the good news! It's our responsibility to try to open the door for the Holy Spirit to work in people's lives.
How about you all do you step right in and tell folks about Jesus?

We all can do better I'm sure. I know that I don't always step up when I should. And I'm not quite sure why sometimes.

I tell people about Jesus as often as I can but I know I could do better.

Try this, F.I.R.M when talking to someone or hoping to when sharing the gospel. F means family and friends and I means interest. Everyone is an expert in a few things these are some of them. A lot of times when we are sharing, the people people whom we are sharing with are afraid we will ask them hard theological questions. It softens the conversation when we talk about things they know about and are passionate about. It also shows we care. Next is R which means religious background. Before sharing the gospel it good to know where they are coming from. Asking questions like do you go to church any where, when was the last time you been, ect... Don't ask how often the go because if they went regularly they would have already told you and you would be there sharing if they went often. Last is M which means message. With this I always start with something like, "can I ask you a question?" If they say yeah then ask, "If you where to die today where do you think you would spend eternity?" Three possible answers, heaven because Jesus saved me and I follow him, heaven because I am a good person (wrong answer, even good people go to hell), I don't know, or Hell. Given there answer gives you good direction on how to proceed. If the door opens to share the Gospel then use the Bible. Its words are much more powerful than mine. Have them read the Romans Road and after each verse ask them if they know what it is saying. If not explain it to them.
One quick testimony about this. One day I was in my office and a young man came in needing help with food. I set him up with a weeks worth of food but afters I use the F.I.R.M to share the gospel. We made it all the way to the end and he even read the scriptures and share what he thought they meant and was correct on most of them. I ask him if he has ever gave his life to Christ and he boldly said yes. So I invited to come to church and get involved with the believers here and he assured me he would, then left. About a hour later my secretary called for me saying he was on the way back to my office. He came in crying, so I asked what was wrong. He replied, "I was thinking about the scriptures I read and I realized that If I died today I would spend eternity in Hell." THERE IS POWER IN THE WORD! I talk to him some more and he was attentive and afterwards he gave his life to Christ, was baptized a few weeks later, and now involved in church. Praise God!
Let me encourage you to share the word but here some advice. Don't force it, let it be natural, listen to them, pray for them, and when the door opens to share boldly proclaim Christ as KIng. Like my professor once told me, don't take any conversation for granite. Take it as an opportunity to share the love and gospel of Christ.
God Bless
