OK, just have to ask, how did you enjoy the first couple of weeks of the NCAA season? Just seems good to have a different focus for a few weeks in my spare time (what little I have). And the Michigan/Notre Dame game late on saturday was AWESOME!
The NFL started up aain as well, and already my Browns are in the hole... Figures ;D Some really surprizing results from week one for sure.

Well, I just think the defenses both decided to take the last 2 minutes off. Made for exciting action (do you have any fingernails left???).
Detroit has been going in the right direction for a while, and it's neat to see them compete with a team like Tampa and win convincingly. I think the Lions are 1 or 2 players away from being a serious contender. The biggest issue this season is the divisional play against Chicago & Green Bay. If they are able to challenge those teams, they'll be in good shape.

Bronc - I'd say the Lions should have answered some questions yesterday... Wow. I know the Chiefs aren't in any danger of winning a super bowl but they just got whacked (48-3 is complete domination). The Lions have turned the corner, and will be a tough team for ANYONE to play. I'm a bit jealous. Cleveland won't be in that shape for a while. Things look good for the immidiate future in Detroit.
Hardcase - It's about time isn't it... Hard not to get excited! Some really good college games have me anticipating an outstanding season.

It's really looking like the lions might just be respectful this year to come back from 20-0 is something and to win 26-23 over Minnesota was convincing to me, we will really see what they are made of after next sunday when they play Dallas

Well, a 24 point comeback should give a lot of hope to you Lions fans. I'm kinda diggin' seeing Detroit doing so well early in the season. They're giving reasons to look forward to the playoffs. They should beat Chicago, the game I want to see is their first matchup with the Pack... That should be a heck of a game!

Yes the Pack will be the real telling factor, I am not convinced just yet, they haven't shown anything in the first half of the last 2 games and have to come back in the last minute to win. not to sure they will beat Chicago.
Guess if you really look at they have wone 12 in a row counting the last 4 last year and the pre season... Who knows maybe they will go undefeated

Well, Chicago was a convincing win. Now the next big one will be on Thanksgiving against the Pack. You may have a legitimate shot at winning the division should Green bay stumble.
Man, I don't believe it. The LIONS are 5-0! Go Detroit!
You know, I may have just jumped on the bandwagon... LOL I am very happy to see them doing well. They're due. now how about the Browns...

Bronc,
Tough loss yesterday for Detroit, but San Fran is a solid team this year, and it's a long season. I think you will see the Lions around after New Years. Just get that feeling from seeing them play. They never gave up, and their ability to fight back from deficits is encouraging. Given some of the other divisional play in the NFC, 10 wins should be plenty to get into the playoffs, and the Lions are looking like they'll have little trouble doing that.
The college ranks seem to be shaking out a little. I was kind of surprised at the UM/M State game. The Spartan defense is as advertised. I think they're still ranked first in the country. And the Bucks pulled one off against Illinois. They'll go as far as the defense takes them, and not an inch farther. Wisconsin will most likely be in the mix at the end of the season. We'll see how the BCS winds up. The problem I see is that there's a distinct possibility that there will be 4 or 5 undefeated teams at the end... Boise State will be on the outside looking in along with a major conference team. We really need at least a +1 game after the bowls, and a playoff would be even better.
It's definitely been interesting to watch....

Hafta agree it was a tough loss, but they didn't really seem into it Maybe the monday night game took a bit out of them They just didn't seem to really want this game Better than all the losses the last few years tho
Now State is my team, and I wass sooooo happy to watch michigan get taken down a notch. I am positive that Wisconsin will win the big 10 outright they are just too strong, but I would be happy with the next bowl game available.

Bronc,
Since there is a distinct possibility that Wisconsin will be playing for the national championship, the next game available will be a BCS bowl, probably the Rose Bowl. It would be great to see that defense stack up against a PAC 12 team.

Wow! What a great game! Have to give a lot of credit to the Spartans for playing an aggressive defensive game, and showing the offensive spark to stay with Wisconsin and pull it off in the last seconds. Awesome game to watch. With a couple slips by the top teams and a thank-you to Texas Tech we may see a rematch of that game with serious implications for the January bowl games in the Big 10 conference championship game.
Just one question - do you have any fingernails left Bronc??? LOL

You did better than I did... LOL! I've been out a lot less than normal. Haven't been seeing much, and with the rut coming on, I'll probably spend more time in the woods. The crop rotation around home is pretty rough for keeping deer on the farm this year. A lot of the neighbors have standing corn, and it seems to be holding most of the deer off the property.
On the football side of things, I was really surprised to see OSU beat Wisconsin. I thought it would be an ugly game for the Buckeyes. The defense did well, and the offense had a little more spark than usual. That gives M State a better shot at the Big 10 Championship. It would be great to see them win it this year. Cousins is a super person, and Mark Dantonio deserves to have a good season. Glad to see Detroit roll over Denver the way they did. It's pretty clear when they are matched against an inferior team. And they do very well against strong teams. They have to work on their short game a bit, but they have home run potential on every offensive play, and they can score a lot in a short time.
