T/C Omega .45 caliber 195 gr .357 Dead Center Sabots I've got some American Pioneer powder I'm trying to use up, when that's gone, it's back to Triple Seven for good. Usually 100 grains. For my little sister, 50 grains does the trick.

js,
At the time, Hodgdon did not make 45 cal pellets in T7, AP did, and it was supposed to be cleaner than T7. Turns out, fouling was worse, loading was harder, and now I've got to get it shot up to get rid of it. NOT worth looking into IMHO.

I shoot a home grown plains type rifle. 32 inch Green Mountain barrel,50 cal, L&R lock and set triggers with numerous other parts. I only shoot a patched round ball in front of 100 grains of Geox fffg blackpowder.

Nothing wrong with old eye balls. That's why I use a wide blade silver front sight. If it works, go for it.

I'm going to use my old eyes as long as I can, which is getting shorter and shorter!

I read an article a while back (several years, not sure exactly) about a fellow who hunted pronghorn with an old 45-70 Sharps (or replica). His solution was to replace the rear sight with a ghost ring once he could no longer adequately see the sight picture. May not be "traditional" but it works in place of mounting a scope 9or at least it did for him).
