Anybody else like lever guns? I've used about every type, but still have a soft spot for them! Top to bottom is Marlin 336 Cowboy 38-55, 1894 Cowboy .45 Colt, Whoops a squirrel rifle sneaked in. 39A .22, 1894 .44 mag, and last is a 30TK 30-30

Nice! One of the best-pointing firearms I've ever shot in my life was a Marlin 336 30-30. It currently has a residence in the safe. ;D You absolutely have to love the handling capabilities of a nice compact levergun. They point like an extension of your arm, and while they may not print sub-inch groups, they're still minute of whitetail a lot farther than most of us should be shooting offhand. There may not be a better deer gun for shots inside 100 yards. I'd love to pick up a guide gun in 45-70 one of these days too... Just got the itch ;D gd

I just found this old post. I like levers, dont use them much since I have slacked off shooting much now. I see some still think they are not too good out past a hundred..... we use them here a lot futher out...... I know of one deer killed at 284 yds, and it was lasered....... LE ammo, worked good. Oh, about to get started on a take down, 336 in a couple of months, when I do retire.

catman,
I guess I should qualify that statement a bit...
I know they are capable of long shots - there are just better options for "field hunting". In the timber, they are unbeatable.
Took the 2nd best buck I've ever killed this past fall with a 336 30-30 - at about 25 yards...
