Our early muzzleloading season is coming up soon. Has your season started or is it getting close for you too.

Ours has come and gone already.
It went from Sept. 22 to Oct. 5.
Its pretty short, but they allow inline's with scopes, so dont feel bad for our muzzleloader hunters. I didnt ever get mine because I was too busy doing other things, so I have to wait until December when the regular rifle season opens up.

Ohio muzzleloader season doesn't come in until after Christmas (after the regular gun season)... Don't know about CA yet... Haven't figured out the regs completely yet. gd

my son (24 today) shot a doe this year already. we have a family challenge to harvest a deer with every legal weapon. so far he has one with a bow, rifle, muzzle loader, and handgun. the only thing left for him is a shotgun. I have bow and rifle so i have a little catching up to do

Well, had 4 deer come within 10 yards during muzzleloader back in Ohio (I'll admit to cheating - I used an inline with a scope). A little 4 point, a doe and 2 yearlings. Tried to get the gun up - they spooked, but stayed within shooting range. Wanted to drop the doe, got on one and took the shot (just a bit wound up about having those deer that close, I was sitting on the ground - in other words the old brain wasn't functioning at complete capacity at the time). Perfect hit, right behind the shoulder. Walked up and found... a button buck. Would rather have missed. Passed the young buck with hopes he'll grow into a big set of antlers one day - and whacked a yearling buck by mistake. On the upside, I suppose it'll be some of the best venison in the woods. gd

...back in Ohio?
My wife and I went up to Ohio for a week over the Christmas break...we were in the area of Bluffton. It was the first time I had been there-the people seemed really great. I look forward to going back sometime.

Schrader,
Spent most of my life (thus far) in Ohio. Went back to see the family over Christmas. If you were in Bluffton, I went right past you. My mom's family is from Van Wert. Ohio is a great state, but if you liked the Bluffton area, you need to see the southeastern part of the state. Absolutely a deer hunter's paradise.
