Ok, I'll be the one to do it.
Two questions: 1. What is the farthest you have shot a turkey? 2. What is the maximum range that you will shoot a turkey?
My answers are 55 yards for both.

Hmmm... Can't answer that for anyone but myself. I've shot a bird out around 50 yards before, but it's more about what your gun is capable of. I've got a friend who has a Benelli SBE that will pattern very well out to 70 yards or so. He's never taken a bird over 40 yards (I don't think) but his gun could shoot a lot farther. Got another friend that has an 835 Ulti-Mag that will do the same thing. And he has taken birds in excess of 65 or 70 yards. Don't know if I'd advocate that, but he makes it work.

As GD3006 stated it depends on the gun, and the shooters confidence and proficiency in shooting it. Now, I have personally taken turkey at over 200 yards. Like I said It depends on the gun. and in that case I was Packing a 243. in the mountains of Virginia. I would go out to 500 yards with the right gun.

I wouldn't shoot past 40 yards with a shotgun. I have shot them out to 100 with a rifle.
