With the advent of camouflage clothing, one thing is for sure. The manufacturers and wholesalers of camouglage clothing are making a mint off the American public. And they keep coming up with more and different camouflage colors and most of this stuff is not cheap. Before you know it, they'll have a camouflage outfit for each day of the month!
I use to outfits; Realtree and desert camouflage vinyl poncho's (approx 12.00 ea from amazon.com). I go to K-mart or Walmart and get a pair of olive-drab pants for realtree and tan pants for the desert (14.00 ea), and if they have any hats on sale, I'll get one in each color (maybe 3.00 ea). Next, I'll purchase a realtree and desert camouflage sweat shirt from amazon.com (10.00 ea). Now I'm pretty much in business. I prefer the poncho idea because it covers most of my body and I'm normally in a sitting stationary position anyway. I think some camouflage clothing is especially good for coyote hunting and coyote picture taking.
Now I'm ready to prep the clothing I've just purchased. The vinyl poncho's are soaked in approx one gallon of water (per poncho) with one-half pint of purex or bleach added for one hour. Vinyl has a shine to it and you want to soften the colors. You may not notice the shine but the coyote's probably will. You should wash the rest of your fabrics in regular detergents. Another extreme you could go to would be to soak all the clothing including ponchos in water with hydrogen peroxide added. This process will help eliminate most of the sent left on your garments.
I'd be interested in knowing if any of you folks are using camouflage clothing to any extent and what difference or results has it made in your hunting experience's.
