Well, I'm done for the season today was the last day of late muzzleloader season. This was a strange season for me the deer were pretty much moving after dark according to my deer cams. I hunted two different farms one with about 6 acres of standing corn. There was no hunting pressure at either farm?? Well I enjoyed just being in the field anyway!

We have a late anterless season that goes until Jan 01, good thing because I haven't seen anything while out hunting, I see a bunch of them while I am working.

Man fellas, it sounds like it's been a tough year all the way around. Talked with my brothers back in Ohio, and they've had a BAD gun season - 9 days of hunting, and nothing on the ground to speak of... well, I take that back.
One of my brothers jumped a deer sunday that had a really tough time getting up. He could tell it was a buck, and it was badly injured. To make a long story short, he and a friend tracked it down, and he put it down from a couple of yards away when it couldn't go farther. Turned out to be a beautiful 1 1/2 yr old buck that had a really bad month. One of his back legs was hanging by skin from the first gun season, the other had a fresh slug wound, as well as his lower abdomen. He was an 11 point with a droptine! However, he had multiple large infections. When they tried to roll him over by the antlers, they both pulled off. So unfortunately, no usable venison. Just glad he was put out of his misery. I will try to post pics of the antlers.
I'm hoping to get out with archery equipment while I'm home, but limited deer sightings and no venison in the freezer have me fairly skeptical. And my season thus far has been a complete bust - other than some beautiful scenery. I'll show you a little of that too.
To those of you still hunting - good luck!
