I started in 1980 there were few birds around here back then. My first call was a Quaker Boy slate, it was lost a long time ago. I got my first turkey with it, but it really was not that great of a call. When I started there were very few hunters in the field here back then I think Dad thought I was nuts. ;D The next call I got was a homemade red cedar box call made by a friend of mine that's passed on now. I don't use it anymore it sits in a place of honor now!!! My first turkey was an interesting hunt to say the least! The second morning I went out I called a nice tom in, but could not get him in close enough to shoot. I was hunting in thick red cedars, and finally he started moving off. I was really disappointed so I thought I'd try to stalk him. I started crawling awhile then I'd call. I did that for over an hour then finally for some reason he started gobbling I still kept crawling. After what seemed like hours (only minutes) he stepped into range. He was mine!! I was using 12 ga #6 2 3/4 and killed him stone dead he was about 50 yards out. Now everybody want 3 1/2 magnums??

We started in 03, thats when I called and killed Marjie's Turkey that she said had been gobbling all morning not far from her.... ;D
And before I'm tared and feathered.....he came from the east and she was hunting west of me....but I did kill him......LMCAO
