Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been on since I don't know when. Been a crazy couple months. More than that actually.
Bad luck started in November, the day before deer season. I was cleaning out the bed of my truck, had a big pile of dirt/leaves/bark piled up. Gave it a big kick, forgot about the filet knife I had put in my truck bed. Ran that knife into the side of my foot right below my ankle, clear to the bone.
Spent the rest of the day in my recliner, thinking about going to the ER, but didn't. Couldn't miss opening day. Used my daughter's crutches to get to my truck the next morning to take her hunting. We didn't see much so I went that afternoon and got a tetanus shot. Hobbled around the rest of week and did manage to get her a small buck. Spent most of December butchering hogs, putting up meat , bear hunting, ( my step-son got a nice 300 pound boar on opening day ), and some 4-wheeler riding.
In January, my good friend Alvy was working on a 4-wheeler when it ignited. Still not sure what happened, probably a gas leak and a spark from his woodstove, but Alvy got burned pretty bad, 3rd degree on his legs and hands. He was in intensive care for 4 weeks, and had 2 rounds of skin grafts. God was looking out for him though. They predicted he would be there for 7 months, but he may get to come home in a week or 2. He is already walking with a walker, and bending his fingers. He is a gentle giant, a big man with a big heart and a strong will. He has had a lot of people praying for him too. He still needs more prayers though, if you all would please. He has to wear special gloves for 2 years , and this is a man who works with his hands ( welds, repairs starters, mechanical work, etc. ). It will be really tough on him and his wife for a while, but God is answering our prayers and he is healing quickly.
Anyway, I have been going out to his place every evening and firing his outdoor stove and feeding the pets. My cousin does the same every morning. We also got some guys together and cut and split a tandem load of logs one afternoon for him. So he doesn't have to worry about wood for a while.
Other than that , been repairing water leaks, fixing things around the house, putting a new deck on my mower, making some knives, and helping my daughter with her science project. She is a freshman and got 2nd place in the high school science fair !! Now she goes to regionals and state.
Well I hope I haven't bored you all to death. I'll try not to be gone for so long again . You all have a great evening, God bless everyone.
