Bible Study Verse
Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (HCSB)
Thoughts:
Has this happened to you: After a great day of quail hunting, you have your bag limit and you are returning to your vehicle when a covey flushes right in front of you? Or pheasant? Or maybe you find yourself as I do, great at locating the largest antelope you have ever seen only during elk season? Although the temptation to exceed my bag limit by just one more bird or harvest an animal outside of its season is not great; my resistance to temptation is much more strained in other circumstances. (BM)
Action Point:
Even Jesus was not immune to temptation, though He never sinned. Temptation is inevitable; and for many of us, especially men, sexual temptation is at the forefront. It is everywhere we go--at a movie in the mall or on a magazine rack at the convenience store. It is even accessible in our homes through television or on our computer. It seems that we cannot escape being tempted, and we need to prepare ourselves for it. The best way to prepare for the inevitable is to place God's word in our heart and decide ahead of time how we are going to react when faced with it.
Sportsmen's Tip of the Day:
Hunter education courses offer students a means of deciding what to do when faced with sportsmen's ethical choices. It is a perfect place to learn what to do ahead of time.
