Bible Study Verse
Daniel 3:26-27
Nebuchadnezzar then approached the
opening of the
blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach,
Meshach
and Abednego, servants of the Most High
God, come
out! Come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach
and
Abednego came out of the fire, and the
satraps,
prefects, governors and royal advisers
crowded
around them. They saw that the fire had
not
harmed
their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads
singed; their robes were not scorched, and
there
was no
smell of fire on them. (NIV)

Thoughts
I find this Bible story terribly exciting; and
always think
of the same thing whenever I hear it--no
smell of the fire! There are many amazing
things in this account of the fiery furnace;
but for some
reason, the thing
that I find most amazing is that "there was
no smell of
fire on them." Every time I go camping, I
have the smell
of the campfire on me and my gear. It is
part of what I
love about camping. On top of that, they
were in
the midst of the fire, and not a single hair
was singed.
I've gotten the hairs on my arm singed just
from being
close to the fire; and they were in the midst
of it!!
Amazing! If God can pay that much
attention to such
small details, how much more attention
would He pay to
a person who wants to know if He is real.
And what is
He willing to do to show that person just
how real He
is! It's amazing. (AL)
Action Point
Read the story of the fiery furnace in Daniel
3. The next time you are camping, just
wave your
hand close to the fire a couple of times and
see if it
doesn't smell just a little like the campfire.
Then tell
someone about this story and your
experience.

Sportsmen's Tip of the Day
By carrying a small coffee pot and coffee
with you
when you head off down the stream to fish,
you might be forced to take a break and
assess your
location. (Remember to carefully and
completely put
out the fire you use to heat your coffee.)
