Are you ready to change your lifestyle in light of these high price conditions.. if so in what way? Do you think there should be a federal investigation into this?

What would you investigate. We know they are gouging us but what laws are being broken?

Here in Kentucky our Attorney General has filed a suit against Marathon for price gouging. It's a first step.

Bob I remember back quite a few years ago when gas prices got out of hand and they opened the Federal Reserves.....it wasn't a fix but a short time solution that made the gas companys straighten up for a few years.
I have to admit I voted for Bush the second time and I still think he was the lesser of the two evil's we had to choice from but by him being a lame duck president and an old oil man I think we all played into their hands......higher gas prices.
We as American's are to worried about our Son's and Daugther's that are overseas that the gas companys prices slipped up on us and now after we have made them SUPER RICHER it's time to get them back in line.

Well I went to my favorite lake this weekend to do some walleye fishing. By the time I filled the truck and the boat I walked away $125 poorer. I don't know about you but that hurts. And I only caught 6 walleye, I could only keep 1 as the rest fell into the 17"-22" slot. That 161/2" fish is gonna have to feed me awhile. The gov. needs to regulate how much profit can be made off of petroleum. They do it on other things, I don't know why petro should be any different, between heating our homes, filling our vehicles, mowing our yards we're gonna go broke.

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country. ~~~ Well, there's a very simple answer. ~~~ Nobody bothered to check the oil. ~~~ We just didn't know we were getting low. ~~~ The reason for that is purely geographical. ~~~ Our OIL is located in ~~~ ALASKA ~~~ California ~~~ Coastal Florida ~~~ Coastal Louisiana ~~~ Kansas ~~~ Oklahoma ~~~ Pennsylvania and Texas ~~~ Our DIPSTICKS are located in Washington, DC !!! Any Questions NO? I didn't Think So.

I agree Bob, this is a problem!! After you read in the paper that many oil companies made several "BILLION" dollars in profit from the price increases just on gas sales alone, I'm very suprized that the Government doesn't step in and do something about it??? They, (the oil companies) are claiming that there aren't enough oil refineries to change the crude oil into gasoline!! So all the ships are sitting in a harbor waiting to unload the crude oil!! Now go back and read that part about several "BILLION" dollars in profit that most oil campnies have made over the last year or so alone. I'm not a CEO, but why don't they "BUILD" more refineries with the "EXTRA" money they took in?!!!!! The other thing is they jack up the price of oil because somebody senses that something is going to happen in the middle east??? But then nothing ever happens, but yet the price of gas has gone up because of what, "Speculatiuon of the market"?? I say that's all BS!! The government should place a cap on what they can charge for gas!! This is pure BS in my opinion!!

A big part of the problem is the bunny huggers and those who don't want us to be enery independent. Building new refineries would help a lot but "Oh, not in my backyard" is what we hear from so many now days. Another big problem is that on an automobile now we have so much extra stuff that is supposed to keep the air clean and make us safer. All of that decreases the MPG we get. Their answer is smaller cars, lighter cars but less safe cars. Another thing that gripes my backside is that they all talk about SUV's being gas guzzlers but have you heard one of them mention the big truck, the fancy motor homes that get 6 miles to the gallon if lucky. I am not against any of those but lets be fair and do it for all, not just us peons. OH, that won't happen because no peons are making the laws. Then we have states who won't allow drilling because it would harm their pristine beaches but it has been proven that very few spills occur from a drill site. Until we can find a solution that creates a program where every state has to produce and export energy to other states, we will always have a big problem. My state is, if I read right, the largest exporter of energy in the nation. Our beautiful mountains and our streams have suffered so that when the switch is turned on the room is brighter. We have an abundence of coal and want to work on a cleaner way of burning it for energy but as I said earlier there are those who don't want that. They keep harping on alternative fuels but no one has yet proven that it will decrease the cost to run out automobiles or to heat our houses. T
