I was thinking the other day how I used to be. I know that's scary! I was saved at a pretty young age. My Mom and Dad were not every Sunday church folks. We ran a dairy which made it a little harder to get to church. When I got older I started to drift away from church. My church was in the fields or the woods! I was close to nature and maybe closer to God than I realized. I have been told several times by hunters and fishermen that don't attend church, that their church is out there! It's hard to argue that fact, but now I know that we need to fellowship with other Christians at church! The Lord was worked through our little group of Christian Sportsmen to bring a few in, but we have a long way to go. How about you all do you hear the same thing from outdoors folks too? How do you handle it?

For me, going into the woods is like being in your granddads shop admiring things that he's built or made...or maybe a collection of some sort that he has acquired over the years.
I always feels closer to God when I am outside, spending time in and with his creation. I think that everything he has made contains bits and pieces of who he is.
Its one of the main reasons I enjoy fishing, trapping, hunting, hiking and scouting so much.

There is something about the outdoors and nature that can bring that spirit of peace into our lives. As I have started trapping and spending more time in the outdoors year round I have found this to be true. I have always enjoyed fishing in the spring, summer, and fall. I always just thought that feeling of peace and calm was because I was doing something I enjoyed, but now I think it is more than that. When I am trapping it goes against my nature as far as what I like. I do not like the cold, I am not a morning person but I get alot of the same fullfillment form trapping as I do fishing. It has to be a God thing. It has to be.

I always feel the closest to God when I'm spending time in the outdoors. However, it says "forsake not the gathering of yourselves together". Now, I may not get the peace of the outdoors, but it is important to recieve the support of like-minded individuals. JMHO
